Custom-Made Furniture: Why Nothing at tripani Comes Ready-Made

There's a moment that almost everyone experiences during a renovation or build: you find a piece of furniture you love in a shop — but it's 10 centimetres too wide for your wall. Or the colour doesn't match. Or the configuration doesn't suit the way you move around the space.

That moment is precisely where the tripani story begins.

For over 50 years, we have never sold a single piece of furniture off the shelf. Every kitchen, every bathroom cabinet, every wardrobe, every custom-built piece that leaves our factory in Halkidiki — was made for one space only. Yours.

What "custom-made furniture" actually means in practice

When we say custom-made furniture, we don't just mean adjusting the dimensions of an off-the-shelf design. We mean something fundamentally different:

We start from zero — from your space, the way you live, your needs and the aesthetic result you want to achieve. There is no "template" we adapt. There is only your home and how you want to feel inside it.

In practice, this means:

  • Dimensions that make use of every centimetre of your space — even if your wall has an irregular shape, a column in the middle or a low ceiling
  • Materials you choose yourself — from the raw material to the final finish
  • A design that speaks to the rest of your home — not a piece of furniture that just "sits" in the space, but one that belongs there
  • Functionality that matches your lifestyle — a family of five has different needs from a couple who rarely cooks

Why ready-made furniture isn't enough

Ready-made furniture has its place. But it also has its limits — limits that become very apparent when we're talking about a kitchen, bathroom or wardrobe. Because these spaces aren't just decorative — they're functional cores of your daily life.

A ready-made piece of furniture forces you to adapt your space to it. A custom-made piece adapts to your space — and you'll feel that difference every day.

What's more, off-the-shelf furniture is designed for the average user. But your space isn't "average" — it has its own proportions, its own quirks, its own architecture. And your home deserves furniture that respects that.

The custom design process at tripani

Every project starts with a conversation. Not a catalogue.

Step 1: Introduction and needs assessment

Our designer visits your space — or we meet at our Thessaloniki showroom — and we ask the questions that matter: How do you use your kitchen? How many people cook at the same time? What bothers you about the space you have now? What aesthetic speaks to you?

Step 2: Measuring and space analysis

We take comprehensive measurements — including the "problems" in your space: columns, pipes, irregular walls, uneven floors. For us, these aren't obstacles — they're design parameters.

Step 3: Design and proposal

Our designer works up the proposal in 3D visualisation so you can see exactly what the result will look like before production begins. You choose materials, colours, handles, worktop surfaces. You can change anything you like — it's your furniture.

Step 4: Construction at our factory

This is one of tripani's major differentiators: we have our own factory in Halkidiki. We don't outsource. We don't depend on external furniture suppliers. Every piece is built in-house, with full quality control at every stage.

This means consistent quality, reliable timelines and — importantly — direct support if anything is ever needed after installation.

Step 5: Installation by our own team

Installation isn't just "delivery and assembly". For custom furniture, installation is part of the construction — it requires knowledge of the design, precision and experience. Our team knows every detail of the piece they're installing.

What we can design for you

Custom Kitchens

From layout and shape to the last hinge — every kitchen we design is unique. Whatever the size of your space, the style you want (minimalist, classic, industrial, Scandinavian) or the materials you choose.

Bathroom Furniture

Bathroom spaces often have the most "challenging" dimensions — and that's precisely where custom design makes the greatest difference. Floating vanities, double vanities, bespoke solutions for compact spaces — all to your exact measurements.

Wardrobes and Dressing Rooms

No two wardrobes are alike — because no two people have the same storage needs. We design systems that suit your space, the way you organise your clothes and the aesthetic result you're looking for.

Custom Woodwork

Bookshelves, dining tables, desks, TV units, reception counters, commercial fit-outs — if it fits in a space and is made from wood, we design and build it.

For architects and interior designers

If you're an architect or interior designer, you know the challenge of finding a furniture maker who executes exactly what you've designed — no compromises, no "we can't do that", no surprises at delivery.

tripani works systematically with architects and designers across northern Greece. We can:

  • Execute your designs with precision
  • Offer technical input during the design phase (materials, tolerances, construction techniques)
  • Provide 3D renders for presentations to your clients
  • Adhere strictly to project timelines

The value of "made for you"

There's something difficult to put into words, but immediately apparent when you enter a home with custom furniture: the space feels complete. There are no gaps filled with compromise. No furniture that was "placed" in the space — only furniture that belongs to it.

This isn't a luxury. It's the logical choice when you're investing in a space you'll live in for years.

And it's exactly what we've been doing at tripani since 1970.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does custom furniture take to make?

It depends on the complexity of the project. For a kitchen or wardrobe, the typical production and installation timeline is 4 to 8 weeks after the design is finalised.

Does custom furniture cost significantly more than ready-made?

Not necessarily. Cost depends on materials, dimensions and complexity. A well-made custom piece often offers better value than a ready-made "premium" brand — because you're paying for materials and craftsmanship, not a label.

Can I choose the materials myself?

Absolutely. From the type of wood to the finish, worktop surfaces, handles and internal systems — every choice is yours.

Do you only serve Thessaloniki?

We primarily serve northern Greece, but we take on projects in other areas depending on the nature of the work. Get in touch to discuss.

Do you work on commercial and professional spaces?

Yes. In addition to residential projects, we fit out offices, hotels, restaurants and retail spaces.
