Outdoor kitchen with Corian®: the space where the life oozes out

There are rooms you design to live in — and rooms that make you want to stay outside. The outdoor kitchen is both.

It's not just a barbecue. It's a fully equipped space for cooking, entertaining and everyday living — one that, when designed well, extends your home without needing a single extra square metre of covered space.

And the material that changes everything in an outdoor kitchen — that makes it not just beautiful but genuinely durable — is Corian®.

Why an outdoor kitchen needs a specialist material

The outdoors is unforgiving. Sun, rain, humidity, temperature changes, cooking oils — an outdoor kitchen faces a combination of conditions that would quickly finish off any indoor material.

Wood: warps, peels, needs constant maintenance. Tiles: atmospheric, but with grout lines that blacken and deteriorate. Stainless steel: durable but cold and difficult to design with. Concrete: strong aesthetically but porous — absorbs stains and moisture.

Corian® does something different: it withstands everything, without compromising on aesthetics.

What makes Corian® ideal for an outdoor kitchen

Resistance to weather conditions

Corian® doesn't absorb moisture, doesn't warp, doesn't peel. Its non-porous structure means water — whether from rain or cooking — leaves no trace and doesn't penetrate the material.

Heat and sun resistance

In outdoor spaces with intense sun exposure, the material doesn't fade, doesn't change colour and doesn't deform. Especially in versions designed for outdoor use, UV resistance is guaranteed.

Easy cleaning

Oil from the grill, sauces, wine — in an outdoor kitchen you get messy and you want to clean up quickly. Corian® wipes clean with a damp cloth. No grout lines that trap residue, no surfaces that absorb stains.

Seamless surface with no joints

One of Corian®'s greatest advantages in general — and even more important outdoors. No joints that blacken, retain moisture or break up the design.

Limitless design possibilities

Corian® comes in dozens of colours and textures — from white that mimics marble to concrete grey or warm earthy tones. It can be shaped and cut into any form, and a sink can be integrated with no visible joint.

What a complete outdoor kitchen includes

An outdoor kitchen isn't just a worktop and a barbecue. It's designed as a complete space:

Corian® worktop

The heart of the space. Enough room to work comfortably, with an integrated sink and no visible joints. L-shaped or U-shaped when the space allows.

Grill or hob

Gas or charcoal — integrated into the design, not simply placed on top.

Storage

Cabinets built from materials suited to outdoor use — stainless steel, moisture-resistant MDF or specialist exterior lacquers. With locks, weatherproof fronts and a design built to withstand humidity.

Sink with running water

One of the elements that makes an outdoor kitchen genuinely functional — and one that requires proper plumbing planning from the outset.

Lighting

LED under-cabinet lights for the worktop, ambient lighting for the seating area — designed together with the furniture.

Bar or island with stools

For welcoming spaces where guests can sit and talk while you cook.

Design choices worth considering

White or light Corian® — gives a clean, Mediterranean result. Works with white or grey fronts and a relaxed, bright aesthetic.

Corian® in grey or charcoal tones — more dramatic, suits dark fronts and a modern industrial character.

Corian® with veining (marble-look) — for those who want a luxury feel outside, as they might choose marble indoors — without marble's sensitivity to water and stains.

What to think about before you start

Cover or shade

An outdoor kitchen works best with some protection — a pergola, awning or canopy. Even if Corian® resists the sun, you need shade.

Position relative to the indoor kitchen

Ideally close to the indoor kitchen — to move ingredients, cookware and dishes easily. The distance matters practically.

Water and electricity supply

These must be planned from the start — they're not easily added later. Plumbing, electrics, drainage.

Winter protection

In Greece, outdoor kitchens are used for 7–9 months of the year. Think about how the space will close up in winter — sliding panels, awnings or simply covers.

Why custom design is the only way for an outdoor kitchen

No two outdoor spaces are the same. The floor plan, the orientation, the floor materials, the relationship with the indoor space, the owner's needs — everything defines a solution that doesn't exist in a catalogue.

At tripani we design outdoor kitchens with Corian® that start from your space and the way you live — and end up as a space you genuinely use, not just admire.

We build in our factory in Halkidiki, with full quality control and installation by our own team.

Frequently asked questions

Does Corian® hold up outdoors?

Yes — provided the right version for outdoor use is specified. Corian® Exterior is designed for UV resistance and external conditions.

How much does an outdoor kitchen cost?

It depends on the dimensions, the equipment (grill, fridge, hob) and the materials. A custom build with Corian® is an investment — but one that doesn't need replacing after five years.

Can I have a fridge in an outdoor kitchen?

Yes — there are purpose-built outdoor-rated fridges that withstand temperature fluctuations. They're integrated into the design from the outset.

Do I need a permit for an outdoor kitchen?

It depends on the type of construction and its location. For permanent structures, consulting a structural engineer is usually required. For moveable or lightweight structures, often not. Ask your engineer.

The outdoor kitchen you're imagining exists — it just needs the right design

A summer evening, friends around the grill, drinks on the worktop, the smell of cooking drifting through the air — that image isn't accidental. It's the result of a space designed for you to live it.
